  • On 6 July, 2017, the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) released the second edition of the Global Cyber Security Index.
  • Earlier, the first edition of this index was released in 2014.
  • Global Cyber Security Index-2017 has ranked 193 countries of the world.
  • In relation to which 134 countries answered in ITU’s online survey.
  • Singapore has got the top position in this index.
  • After this, the US, Malaysia, Oman, Estonia, Mauritius, Australia, Georgia, France, Canada, and Russia have been ranked second, third, fourth, fifth, sixth, seventh, eighth, ninth, tenth, and eleventh place respectively.
  • The countries that get the lowest five positions in this index are -164 Equatorial Guinea, 163 Yemen, and Central African Republic (jointly), 162 Domica, 161 Guinea-Bissau, Somalia, Timor Leste, Tuvalu (jointly).
  • India has been ranked 23rd in this index.
  • While in the index released in 2014, India was jointly in fifth place with many other countries.
  • In this index among the neighboring countries of India China is ranked 32st, Bangladesh 53rd, Pakistan 66th, Sri Lanka 71st, Nepal 93rd and Bhutan ranked 109th.
