  • On 14th May, 2018, an Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed between four States – and Union Territory for implementing Ayushman Bharat-Pradhan MantriRashtriyaSwasthya Suraksha Mission (PMRSSM), at a regional workshop for northern States at Shimla.
  • These include four states Himachal Pradesh, Haryana, Jammu & Kashmir, Uttarakhand and one Union Territory of Chandigarh.
  • Ayushman Bharat-Pradhan MantriRashtriyaSwasthya Suraksha Mission (PMRSSM) will protect around 50 crore people (from about 10 crore families).
  • “It will be cashless and paperless access to services upto Rs. 5 lakhs per year will be available for the beneficiary families at the point of service in both public and private empanelled hospitals across India,”
  • Beneficiaries under the scheme can avail of services anywhere in India and it is expected to bring a visible relief to the target families by mitigating the financial risk arising out of catastrophic health episodes.
  • Nearly 15.31 lakh people of BPL category in Himachal Pradesh will get free treatment under this scheme.
  • On this occasion, the Chief Minister informed that the amount of Rs.1350 crores has been approved for the establishment of AIIMS in the state by the Central Government.
  • Himachal Pradesh government has constituted the Chief Minister’s Health Relief Fund in the state for which a provision of Rs. 10 crores has been made in the budget.
  • Workshops will be organized in the country to implement the ‘Ayushman Bharat Scheme’.
  • The first regional workshop on Prime Minister’s National Health Mission is being organized in Himachal Pradesh.
  • 4, 83,643 families have been registered under the National Health Insurance Scheme in Himachal Pradesh.
  • India is the Memorandum of Understanding that the Union Health Minister J.P. Signed in the presence of Nadda and Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Jairam Thakur.
