- On August 19th, 2017, Uttarakhand’s Chief Minister Trivendra Singh Rawat and Higher Education Minister Dr. Dhan Singh Rawat inaugurated the Pradhan Mantri Suraksha Bima Yojana to Students for free and the Bravery Wall in a program organized at MBPG College, Haldwani.
- About 2.50 lakh students taking higher education in all the colleges of the State will be insured under this scheme.
- Poor or economically weak students of the State will get an educational loan from banks up to Rs.10 lakhs for higher education in the State and up to Rs.20 lakhs for study outside the State.
- A loan of Rs.15 lakh loan will be given to teachers and employees on the basis of their wages.
- Chief Minister also distributed passbook of accounts opened under the Bima Yojna to the students.
